I Was Just Curious.......

On average, while you’re blogging, do you leave mostly positive/agreeable comments in the response sections, or do you usually take the opportunity to write something contradictory to the authors post, just for controversy’s sake? Do you find that you just naturally disagree with what most people are thinking? Do you comment for laughs? Or, are you a lurker?

This is an open question to everyone (lurkers too). I’ve never really had a problem with negative comments. But I have seen (on other blogs) a few commenters that always seem to be getting into s*** with the authors, and even other commenters.

Nothing wrong with one or two s*** starters I guess, LOL! It keeps things from getting boring, IMHO. I hope that everyone who visits my lowly blog feels comfortable enough to say whatever is on their minds. Even if it’s “Shut tha f*** up Nic!!!!!” Hahahaha!!!!!! I know that I don’t write many controversial posts ……. so this question applies to any and all other blogs you regularly read.

You can answer anonymously if you prefer.

Peace…………… And thank you in advance for not “OUTING” any one in particular.

Much Love,
Nic

P.S. Why does your blog tell me I can't leave anonymous post. Is that some racist thing again people who are proud uncles?

Nic said...

@ JP,

Hahahahahah! Ooops, my bad. let me take that anon thing off and try again!

((((((TESTING TESTING)))))))

JP.... I have seriously scolded my blog for not allowing anonymous comments. Spankings all around!!!!!! LOL!

I'm generally of the opinion that if I don't have anything nice to say then I don't say anything at all. It usually isn't serious enough to start seeing spots and slobbering at the mouth over something someone has said especially if they preface it as being their opinion.

I also don't generally read, listen to, or hang around people, places, or things that I so often and violently disagree with. People who do make absolutely no sense to me.

I believe one can disagree without being a jerk.

I usually dont comment just to start mess...if I do comment contradictorally (new word!) haha then its just because I felt the need to express my egos p.o.v. Usually I just keep going tho...especially when the tone of the post is..."I know I'm right...so can yall agree with me NOW!"

Excellent post!!! I'm a very opinionated woman, but I try to keep my blog comments respectful if I disagree with what someone has said. I just think it's way too silly for grown folks to be arguing over some damn blog! I've people come on my own blog and curse me out, call me all types of names and such, but I don't let that stuff get to me. It's good for business anyway. lol AND, I love discussions, so I always welcome people's opinions, but sometimes people take it too far.

There are some crazzzy people in this blogosphere!

CapCity said...

agree w/ freaky deaky & not just cuz i love the name;-). LOL!
the blog-sphere is a funny "place" cuz i see folx get upset or take stuff personally & i'm like 'whoa' - we don't really know each other like that...i don't know maybe i'm just blissfully naive. even though i've met some bloggers - this blog-world is still relatively a "wonderland" for me. if i don't like a blogspot i keep it moving - no need for me to "piss" on somebody else's way of thinking...that's my 2 cent...

Organized Noise said...

you giving out spankings? I think I need one. ;-)

I comment my opinion. Good, bad or otherwise. I flirt a lot too, but I don't say anything that I wouldn't back up and I don't flirt with anyone I don't like. How I comment is based on what the post is. Each one is different.

My-Conscience said...

SOmetimes I read and comment when I can relate to what they are writing. If I read and I dont' have much to say I will just say. Great post! etc. I am not one for starting stuff.

Nice post, I sometimes do it all. Like there are multiple advantages of leaving comments on other people's blogs as you know. Some people's entry's catch my attention (like this one) therefore they will get my feed back wheather it is my two cents or my twenty bucks lol. Other times I kinda say hey and what not, b/c I know when I write I love to get comments on my side.

NICE ONE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

@ JP,
I’m still laughing at the fact that you told me to “SHUT THE F*CK UP!” Bravo………..bravo! ROTFLMBAO!!!

@ Freaky deaky,
That’s a good way to live. While blogging, I’ve disagreed once or twice, but I always try to relay that as nicely as I can. For the most part I try to keep it easy. I don’t ever want to sound like a jerk :) It just amazes me how many people want/need to be rabid-internet-commenters. “I also don't generally read, listen to, or hang around people, places, or things that I so often and violently disagree with” That’s a good system. Just keep the negativity in your life to a minimum. Thanks for stopping by.

@ Keelah,
*New word = brownie points*
All I’m gonna say is “Baby Teeth!” I know those aren’t new words, but, where are my brownie points??? No, no seriously! Okay, nothing wrong with sharing your POV. “Usually I just keep going tho…” That’s funny. The ones who peak my curiosity are the ones who do it (argue) every day on a number of blogs for no reason. *tappin on their heads, wondering….what’s going on in there!*

@ Sugar,
Thank you. “It's way too silly for grown folks” Key word being GROWN! I can’t believe these people sometimes. I thought spammers would be the worst, but I’ve actually had people (immature haters) leave shitty comments on MY BLOG about OTHER bloggers. I’m like “Keep THAT shit in myspace please!” lol! Seriously though that’s way out of line. I love discussions also, and I’m usually open to hearing what’s on the minds of others, but yes….sometimes people do take it too far. I love constructive criticism, but life is too short to waste berating strangers we’ll most likely never meet!

@ Capcity,
I feel you completely on the wonderland thing. I’ve only been blogging since April, and there are still some things that make me go “Hmmmmm WTF!?!?!?!?” Actually your post was the motivation I needed to write this. I’d been concerned for a while about some things I’ve seen on comment pages already, but the other day when I posted a comment on your blog I was like, “wait…I hope that didn’t read like I was being bitchy.” LOL! In my case it was a slight misunderstanding, and I knew you knew that, but I’ve seen others where it wasn’t a “wording” issue. They were just trying to get people riled up. Glad you’re not one of them :)

@ Organized noise,
Yes I am, and your naughty ass is # 2 on my list, LOL!
I can’t resist a flirt! You better watch out! “but I don't say anything that I wouldn't back up” Oooh……..I like a challenge from a forceful dude ;)

@ Nitty-Gritty,
I feel like that sometimes too. I like to comment, to let bloggers know that “Hey! I’m here, and I appreciate you taking time to write/type.” I feel like it’s cool that we don’t always agree. Just as long as were respectful to one another.

******EVERYONE******Thank you all for taking the time to answer this question for me. I’m still new to this blogging thing, and sometimes I feel like I don’t know as much internet etiquette as I should. I was thinking “damn….maybe I’m not taking this blogging thing seriously enough. Maybe I’m missing the point. Maybe I should cuss a mutha-f*cka’ out every once in a while just for GP.
Thanks for helping me to see that I’M NOT CRAZY. It’s good to know that I’m not the only one who thinks it’s unnecessary to be an online jerk.

Peace

@ Ray,
You’re so sneaky. I didn’t even see you sneak up there. I’m like you. I always love feedback, as long as it’s not needlessly trifling, LOL! My goal is going to be ….”GET MORE $20 RESPONSES!!!!”
Thanks for stopping by.

I always leave positive/agreeable comments [I think]

**Can't say that I'm one for controversary...[Ms. Behaving is a lover NOT a fighter :-)]**

Well...seeing as how I have NEVER been one to bite my tongue, I have no problem voicing my opinion on a post; good, bad, or ugly. I have plenty of "debates" on my blog & others and for the most part it's been ok. Like freky-deaky said...we're all adults here & as long as you keep it respectful, no harm, no foul!

The way I see it, if someone takes the time to leave a comment, that means the content of your blog has to be something of interest to them; otherwise why would they bother...cause like several others here have said...if I'm not interested in what your saying, I'm just gonna keep it movin.

Hey Nic
I generally respond as conversation, whether I agree or disagree, or identify with a persons post or am just responding to a question they're asking...but, for all blogs that I read, I respect the author and don't get into a pissing contest with them. Life is too short for that kinda crap.

“Shut tha f*** up Nic!!!!!”

*Tanyetta* said...

hahaha....i couldn't resist. this is a great post and a great question. i haven't had any really off the wall comments. heck i mostly write about my life with a toddler so, most times people just come to see what he's up to and they bounce.

oh wait, i did get a comment from someone that said i suck and my blog sucks too! now that was some funny ish!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Tanyetta* said...

ok now you have me thinking......i did get another comment saying my husband was sooooo fine and i betta be lucky to have him. they signed it anonymous, i swear it was prolly my husband who posted that comment. he is crazy like that!!!!!

@ Ms. Behaving,
Yeah you are pretty good about leaving positive messages. Cept that time you told me to “drink bleach!!!!!!!” Just kidding! Only wanted to make sure you’re awake! It’s always a pleasure to have you stop by my blog.

@ Kiki,
“The way I see it, if someone takes the time to leave a comment, that means the content of your blog has to be something of interest to them;” Excellent point! I will definitely take that into account the next time I get a less than friendly comment.

@ Black Mamba,
Hey! Don’t want to sound repetitive, but yeah, I totally agree. Respect is key! Why can’t everyone else keep that in mind? As far as contest go…I would die from laughter if someone just decided to comment “MY BLOG IS BETTER THAN YOURS! CHALLENGE!!!!”

@ Tanyetta,
ROTFL that blog momma of the year just cussed me out!!! I did not see that s**t coming at all, lol!!!!
“I suck and my blog sucks too!” Yes that is funny!!!! I know you were prolly like “Wait…..is this someone else’s comment page? I must have accidentally hit the back button.” And that anonymous comment does sound like something a hubby would say. Y’all both silly! Call him anonymous one day and see if he flinches, hahaha!!!

I always try to be polite and respectful. if I feel like it may cause drama then I don't even post comment at all.

excellent post topic, nic!
